A free holiday celebration hosted by the City of Wichita Falls Parks & Recreation Department. Santa Claus will arrive at 1:00pm to greet the children and oversee the Great Candy Cane Scramble! Children ages two through 2nd grade are invited to "scramble" through Scotland Park to collect as many of the 10,000 candy canes as they can find! Kids of all ages will enjoy rides on the Christmas Train, free carnival games and Christmas arts & crafts.
For three decades, residents and visitors alike have enjoyed this serene neighborhood all lit up with glowing luminaries that line the streets. Some 1,500 candles nestled in white bags will give this historic neighborhood an ethereal glow from dusk until the candles blow out. The lanterns will line the winding streets around the Morningside Pond and on Ninth Street.
And the glowing lanterns aren't the only reason to cruise through this historic neighborhood. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the homes in Morningside boast a variety of architechtural styles from American Foursquare to Georgian and Tudor. Some homes date as far back as 1919.
*In case of inclement weather on the scheduled weekend, the makeup date is set for December 15-16.
